4M’S 2024 GROWTH BUOYED BY FIVE ACQUISITIONS
By the end of 2024, 4M Building Solutions is projected to achieve annual revenue of $250 million, a significant increase from the $131 million reported in 2023. Its Team Member count will grow more than 40 percent, from 4,700 to 6,700.
Although new business in existing markets played a significant role in this growth, an unprecedented run of acquisitions expanded 4M’s market reach, paving the way for sustained long-term success.
With 34 acquisitions since its founding in 1978, 4M has become a trusted partner for efficient, seamless, transparent, legacy-focused acquisitions. “We enjoy the reputation we’ve earned as the acquirer of choice for commercial cleaning companies,” said Tim Murch, CBSE, 4M CEO and managing partner. “These acquisitions made sense geographically and checked many boxes related to our growth plans. Most importantly, each of these companies looking to sell their janitorial business shared our commitment to fostering a strong culture, prioritizing customer satisfaction, and excelling in our industry. Those attributes assure long-term success for each company’s legacy, their customers, and their Team Members.”
The following summarizes 4M’s 2024 acquisitions of janitorial services companies:
April 1: 4M acquired Horizon Services Corporation, a commercial cleaning company headquartered in East Hartford, Conn., and operating in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Horizon operates with 500 Team Members and manages cleaning contracts across 175 unique service sites.
May 1: 4M acquired SG360, based in Overland Park, Kan., and operating in 12 Midwest and Southeast states. Five states—Oklahoma, Virginia, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina—became new markets for 4M and brought the company’s footprint to 26 US states east of, and including, Kansas.
July 1: 4M entered the Michigan market—its 27th state— by acquiring Hi-Tec Building Services. The company’s 575 Team Members service a diverse portfolio that includes 175 municipalities, 70 State of Michigan facilities, and 30 educational institutions.
August 2: 4M acquired Thario Building Services in Green Bay, Wis. Thario brought to 4M 290 highly trained Team Members responsible for cleaning nearly 8 million square feet daily. It is the largest medical cleaning provider in northeast Wisconsin and boasts a portfolio that also includes educational facilities, office buildings, and manufacturing facilities.
November 1: 4M acquired Covenant Building Service, a premier provider of janitorial services in Nashville, Tenn. This strategic acquisition strengthens 4M’s presence in the Nashville market, which it first entered in 2017.
